ODL Europe has reported strong demand for their 1930s-inspired Craftsman composite door designs, with the shift from consumers to distinctive traditional styling still proving popular.
The company’s Trafalgar Square range was based on the Arts and Crafts-style door that combines decorative glazing options with the best in traditional styling. Suzanne Nicholl, Head of Sales and Customer Services at ODL Europe, explains: “Craftsman-style composite doors have always been popular in period properties, but we are now seeing an uptake in contemporary new builds and modern refurbishments too. Our Craftsman range evokes the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement and features the traditional ratio of a top third glazing and two thirds panel, emphasising the stunning woodgrain effect on our doors.”
The doors are taken to the next level with the unique ODL Europe Craftsman framing system, which is available in nine shapes. The broad, flat profile frame has architectural styling and blends perfectly with the Craftsman door slab to create a superior look. For the ultimate in 1930s styling, a dentil shelf is also available. Suzanne said: “The dentil shelf is installed below the top panel or glass of the door and gives exceptional traditional character.”
Like all ODL Europe’s composite door slabs, the Craftsman Collection are manufactured from the Capstone door slab, one of the world’s leading suppliers of composite doors. Over 750,000 Capstone composite doors are installed worldwide every year, so they are tried and tested in the most demanding conditions.
The Capstone 44mm door slab is manufactured using 2mm thick GRP SMC skins for impressive impact resistance. Stiles and rails are manufactured from a water-resistant pure PVC polymer and reinforced using LVL (Laminated Veneered Lumber) timbers with a minimum density of 570 kg/m3. The SMC skins and sub-frame door assembly are fully bonded using a urethane adhesive resin. And for peace of mind, all ODL Europe door slabs are covered by a 10-year structural warranty.
Suzanne concludes: “Our composite door slabs have been purposely designed to reflect all door trends to give our customers a competitive advantage . And every door collection, whether Contemporary, Classic, Traditional or Modern have been meticulously designed in a range of styles and finishes allowing our customers a clear point of differentiation to offer a wide and varied portfolio. It’s a powerful proposition to help our customers make the most of the market opportunities.”
